A Guide to the Applications & Advantages of Different Types of Check Valve

Check valves are widely used in a variety of sectors and settings, including domestic and industrial. In this article, we provide detailed information on the uses, advantages, and mechanisms of various industrial check valves. Let’s begin discussing check valves.

What Is A Check Valve?

Check valves are automatic shutoff valves that allow fluids and gases to flow in one direction only.

Under pressure and flow, check valves allow gases and fluids to freely flow through their closure mechanisms.

At the inlet of the valve, fluids or gases enter the valve, and they exit at the outlet. There is no interruption in flow until the pressure drops or the pump is shut off.

Self-automated valves do not require assistance to open and close, unlike other valves. A plant facility without air, electricity, or labor assistance won’t affect the valve’s work continuity.

Check valves made of PVC are widely used in various industries. Water pumps are ideal for use with check valves.

Mechanism Of Check Valve

Material flowing through the industrial check valve activates it. When the material passes in the right direction, the check valve opens automatically, whereas if the flow reverses, the valve closes automatically.

In the process of getting opened, the internal disc in the valve allows the flow to pass forward. When forward flow is decreased or reversed, the disc closes the valve.

Application Of Check Valve

There are a variety of uses and applications for check valves, from domestic to industrial. The following sectors and systems can use a check valve:

  • Pumping Systems
  • To Control Fluids
  • Water Supply Check Valves
  • To Control Gaseous Flow
  • Aircraft Hydraulic Systems
  • Irrigation Systems
  • Pipeline Networks
  • Fuel Pump
  • Pharmaceutical Factories
  • Heating Boilers

Advantages Of Using Check Valves

It doesn’t matter what type of check valve is installed. Below are the answers to your question about why we need a check valve:

  • Low-Pressure Change
  • Quick Opening
  • Serve As a Backup System
  • Ideal For High And Low Pressure
  • Reliable And Long Service Life
  • Does Not Require Power to Operate
  • Maintains Pressure
  • Low Maintenance Costs
  • Works Automatically
  • Prevents Back Flow
  • Suitable for both horizontal and vertical flow
  • Pumps and compressors are protect from damage cause by backflow
  • Reducing downtime and production losses
  • Prevent Water Hammer
  • Reduce Sudden Valve Failure

Check valve materials used for different types

The Check valve is required for different setups and use. Whether it’s  Dual Plate Check Valve, Wafer Type Check Valve, or Ball Check Valve, all of these industrial check valve come in different dimensions and materials. Check valve prices are based on the materials used and their dimensions.

A variety of materials is use to manufacture the check valve, stainless steel, cast iron, cast steel, and bronze. Depending on the type of valve, the material, and the dimensions, the cost of an industrial check valve varies.
